1. How to Arrive to the city of Cusco in Peru?

Most travelers arrive to the city of Cusco in Peru by plane. You should you know that the airport of Cusco is only for domestic flights. If you are coming directly from overseas country via Lima, you must collect your luggage in Lima and check it again for your flight to Cusco. A total of 4-airline companies make round trip flights between Lima and Cusco (LATAM Airlines, AVIANCA Airlines, Star Peru and Peruvian Airlines). They all offer similar schedules and on-board service, but we generally recommend LATAM or AVIANCA airlines. They are often most useful when unexpected flight cancellations or delays occur.

2. If I walk the Inca Trail, do I arrive to Machu Picchu?

Yes, The Inca Trail in all its modalities (2-day, 4-day, 5-day and 7-day) arrives to Machu Picchu. The trail arrives through the Sun Gate or “Inti Punku”. The Inca Trail is the ancient path that goes from the Sacred Valley of the Incas through the high-Andean valleys and Mountains directly to Machu Picchu. It was created specifically for the Incas to travel to Machu Picchu.

3. How to book a Tour for the Inca Trail?

To book a Tour for the Inca Trail you need to contact an Authorized Inca Train tour operator in Peru (Like Us: SPT Travel & Tours). The authorized tour operator will reserve your trek dates and obtain the permits and entrance fees for the Inca Trail. To reserve the permits will be very important that you have to send your personal details or a copy of your passport. You also will need to pay a deposit of $200 per person. Deposits can be paid separately as long as we have a booking form that we can use to track payments. Once we have all the deposits and details, we will reserve your permits. When the permits are in our hands, we will send you your invoice and confirmation that everything is 100% settled. All start dates, once confirmed, are guaranteed. We try to make booking as easy as possible.

4. It is Possible stay in the Sacred Valley like Ollantaytambo instead of Cusco?

Yes, this is the best option due to the altitude is lower. Also, the time of pick up will be 1:30 hours later and you’ll have more time to rest in your hotel. Ollantaytambo is the best place to stay besides Cusco; It is located at 2,800m/ 9,160 feet, it is a great option for altitude acclimatization, compared to Cusco that is located at 3,400m/11,152 feet. Also.

5. What about the Mountain of Huayna Picchu?

The Mountain of Huayna Picchu Mountain is that beautiful and picturesque mountain peak that stands next to the ruins of Machu Picchu. Once you arrive to Machu Picchu, you have the option to go beyond the basic tour of Machu Picchu and climb the Huayna Picchu mountain.     This trip goes above 2,800 meters / 9,200 feet where it is common for travellers to experience some adverse effects in their health due to the altitude. This is a group trip, so there’ll be other people to share the experience with – you’re never truly travelling alone!     • Porter welfare policies

      All porters that we employ receive a good working wage that is regulated by the Trekking Agents Association of Peru and the Labor ministry of Peru, paying as per their guidelines, which are unionized. We are one of the only trekking companies in Peru to provide porters with three meals a day, prepared by our cooks, as well as lodging or tents, sleeping mats and sleeping bags. Porters receive income protection and life insurance and have access to the same first aid care that travellers receive including emergency evacuation if required. Porters are provided with a wind and waterproof jacket and over-trousers, leather or canvas shoes and a warm cap, and carry a maximum of 20kgs in provided backpacks.
